Banan Temple (ប្រាសាទភ្នំបាណន់)


 

  Banan temple is a mountainous temple which is located in Kon Ty 2 commune, Banan district,Battambang province,on the top of a 400-meter high mountain called Banan mountain.This temple was built between the mid 11th century and the end of 12th century in the reign of King.Utayea Titya Varaman II (1050-1066) and King. Jayavaraman VII (1181-1219). In order to arrive the mountain, tourists have to travel 18 kilometers from the provincial town by road 155 which is parallel to Sang Ke river.At the mountain, there are two natural caves, Bit Meas cave and Chhoung or Chhoung Achey cave. A small temple is found at the bottom of the mountain, on the right side of the stair.Besides that, there are many big shady trees and food stalls along the entrance.
